Take a Virtual Tour

  • Welcome to my home, the Hebrew Home of Greater Washington. Did you know the Hebrew Home has been part of the Washington community since 1910?
  • Your family becomes part of our family, included in your care team, activities and support programs.
  • Who has the winning hand? Poker is just one of hundreds of activities available to residents.
  • Comfortable surroundings, outstanding care and rehabilitation.
  • “I marveled over how you transformed the everyday routine into a vital community where patients have the possibility to thrive, not just survive - the Home resonates with the sounds of life, caring, and dignity.” - Bookman family
  • Volunteers like Ruth add immeasurably to life for each resident. They deliver flowers, assist with programs, visit those who have no family nearby, escort residents to therapy sessions, and more.
  • Opportunities to form friendships and to pursue favorite interests enrich daily life.
  • Beautiful surroundings are important. On our campus, you can watch the seasons, enjoy picnics, feed the birds, and make use of secure outdoor gardens.
  • The Home is open to everyone. Spiritual needs are met, whatever a person’s religion, cultural background, or level of observance. Jewish values ensure respect, compassion, dignity, justice and learning are part of daily life.
  • Looking good makes you feel good. The beauty parlor/barber shop is just one convenience; we also have in-house banking services, libraries, soda shop, computer access adn laundry services. Everything you need is everywhere around you.
  • Nursing is the cornerstone of care here. Nursing staff and social workers help residents and families feel at ease and create a sense of community on each unit.
  • Each year, over 1,000 people come to our Rakusin Rehabilitation Center for short-stay care, perhaps to recover from joint replacement surgery or stroke. The rehabilitation center has a proven track record in helping people recover and return to their own homes.
  • With our therapy area, we have a realistic setting to practice and relearn skills for independent living.
  • We have a staff of full-time, on-site physicians and podiatrist, all experienced in caring for older patients. This is one of the factors that sets us apart in providing outstanding care.
  • The Home benefits from outstanding leadership and significant support from the community, a constant reminder that our residents are valued and loved.
  • We hope you’ve enjoyed your visit to the Hebrew Home. Our Wasserman (1) and Smith-Kogod (2) residences are part of Charles E. Smith Life Communities, which includes Revitz House (3), Ring House (4) and Landow House (5)
