Donors share reasons for supporting Charles E. Smith Life Communities

As the season of giving and sharing approaches, we are grateful to those whose gifts impact the lives of residents on campus. Elana Lippa, director of Gift Planning, introduces us to three special donors who explain their particular inspiration for supporting our programs and the important services we provide to older adults.

Shelly WeismanShulamith Weisman: “I am grateful for the care my mother-in-law and her two sisters received at the Hebrew Home, part of Charles E. Smith Life Communities. My mother-in-law lived in long-term care, and her sisters both went home after effective rehabilitation at the Hebrew Home. We felt we wanted to give something back, and the charitable gift annuity is a great way to support Charles E. Smith Life Communities while ensuring payments for the rest of my life.”

Martin Auerbach: “My late wife Evelyn volunteered at the Home for almost 40 years, serving on boards, raising Martin Auerbach funds, and organizing events. My gift seeks to honor her work and commitment. Evelyn was inspired to serve the Home by her father, Dr. Harold Hirsh, who directed medical care at the Home as a volunteer, and by her mother, Mrs. Jane Hirsh, who was also an active supporter. I hope my gift inspires our children and grandchildren to follow our example. I continue to be impressed with the competent, empathetic care that the staff at Charles E. Smith Life Communities provides to seniors living on the campus and through the Hirsh Health Center. This is why I am a Builder of the Future.”

Jacqueline RamsJacqueline M. Rams: "While I have not had a loved one at Charles E. Smith Life Communities, I have seen in my own family how important quality care and services for seniors are. That is why Charles E. Smith Life Communities is a beneficiary of my estate.
