2015: What does a five-star rating mean?

Hebrew Home of Greater Washington has a 5-star quality rating from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services

2015 Hebrew Home Graphic - ResidentOur five-star quality rating places us in the top 26 percent of nursing homes in Maryland, and recognizes achievements in:

Health inspection — In Maryland, the federal government oversees nursing home performance through the State Office of Health Care Quality, which conducts onsite health inspections annually. The health inspection rating contains information from the last three years of inspections.

Quality measure or metrics domain — Like all certified nursing homes, we routinely collect resident assessment data and transmit it to the federal government, which provides the rating.

Staffing — We report on the average number of registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, and certified nurse aides on the payroll prior to the latest inspection, along with the numbers of hours they worked. Our rating is based on the average number of nursing care hours a day provided to residents and patients (including the amount of care that was provided by a registered nurse).

Our ratings indicate the Hebrew Home is much above average in terms of overall quality.
