2015 World Elder Abuse Awareness Day

ElderSAFE Spreads the Word...and Message

June Elder Abuse AwarenessOn June 10, the ElderSAFE Center at Charles E. Smith Life Communities partnered with Montgomery County, Maryland to sponsor a special county-wide event at the Holiday Park Senior Center to mark the 10th anniversary of World Elder Abuse Awareness Day. Tovah Kasdin, center, director of the ElderSAFE program, and KerryAnn Aleibar, case manager, worked with governmental county and social service professionals, including Jim Flaherty, MSW, LCSW-C, of Adult Protective Services, to build an awareness of the nature and extent of elder abuse.

The following week, on June 15, ElderSAFE joined together with a large coalition of local, state, national and international leaders and noted elder abuse experts to promote World Elder Abuse Awareness Day at the first GLOBAL Summit in Washington, D.C. https://www.napsa-now.org/wp-content/uploads/2015/05/WEAADProgram.pdf.
