2014 Campus News: Renovation and Expansion

Revitz House and Wasserman renovations and newly-purchased building will enhance our services.

It seems everywhere you look on campus, improvements are taking place.

2014 Revitz ConstructionRevitz House is the most recent residence to begin a facelift. During a multi-phase, multi-year project, the public spaces of Revitz House will be improved, as well as some of the building infrastructure, including the fire alarm system. The first phase of construction began in October, and includes a new porte-cochère, or entry, which will more easily accommodate buses and emergency vehicles. During this first phase, a new fitness and therapy suite will be completed, and washers and dryers will be placed on each of the residential floors, eliminating the need for Revitz House residents to bring their laundry to lobby-level machines.

In the Hebrew Home's Wasserman Residence, the second-floor renovation is complete and on 3 North renovations will wrap up by January, 2015. This project has created new dining rooms, a family lounge, and updated patient rooms on our post-acute units. All of the bathing areas throughout the Wasserman Residence have been redone as well, and residents on each nursing unit can now enjoy three spa-like shower suites.

Lastly, our neighbor, The Jewish Federation of Greater Washington, has moved from our campus to a new Rockville location and, with the generosity of the Elsie and Marvin Dekelboum Family Foundation, Charles E. Smith Life Communities was able to purchase the building at 6101 Montrose Road.
