A Time to Thank Donors...and a Time to Learn

Our Mission

The mission of Charles E. Smith Life Communities is to fulfill Jewish values by providing a continuum of quality services for elders and their families, and to affirm our commitment to the dignity of each individual.

We can only accomplish this mission with the kind support of generous donors attuned to our values and the needs of an elderly population. A special event is one way to express our gratitude...hence the May 13 “Thanks to You” Tea at Somerset House.

While attendees enjoyed tea, a light luncheon, and each other's company, two campus professionals — Patty Hagen, Director of Memory Care Programs, and An Cao, Director of Information Systems — presented a joint program on Brain Fitness and the innovative use of computer programs to improve the cognitive skills of residents living with Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia.

We extend a very warm thanks to hosts Frances and Leonard Burka, Bess Hormats, and Irving Malitson for their efforts to make the Tea a success and for their ongoing generosity to Charles E. Smith Life Communities.
