2014 Hebrew Home Youth Philanthropy Program - H2YP

2014 Hebrew Home Youth Philanthropy Program - H2YP

Signing Up Teens Now!

Thank you for your interest in the Hebrew Home’s Harold & Shirley Robinson H2YP Youth Philanthropy Program. The Hebrew Home of Greater Washington, a Charles E. Smith Life Community, is the largest agency serving the frail elderly in our community. Did you know there are over 1,000 seniors in six buildings living on our campus?

The purpose of H2YP is to give teens the chance to learn about philanthropy and decision making by gaining an understanding of the financial needs of the Charles E. Smith Life Communities (CESLC) and then participating in the process by which funds are allocated to projects requested by different departments on the campus. The board, composed of fifteen to twenty students from area high schools, grades 9 to 12, will have total decision-making power in determining how the money available to it will be allocated. This year, in addition to the required donation of $250 from each student participant, we will receive a matching amount from a generous donor of $5,000.

By becoming a member of H2YP, a student will learn about many of the great services and projects on the CESLC campus, meet other teens interested in philanthropy and have fun at the same time. Student Service Learning (SSL) hours will be given to each teen who participates.

H2YP members will attend monthly meetings to learn about CESLC and the grant proposal and allocation process. All of our meetings are held on a Sunday afternoon from 1:30 to 4:30 PM. A schedule of 2014 meetings is attached

If you are interested in joining H2YP, please complete the application and return it, with your tzedakah check, no later than December 31, 2013 to:

Hebrew Home of Greater Washington

If you have any questions before you fill out the application, feel free to contact Gale Deitch at (301)770-8409 or at deitch@hebrew-home.org.

We look forward to hearing from you.
