Ring House Reaches Out to Prospective Residents

What's Coming Up This Fall!

Ring HouseRing House, a warm and welcoming independent-living residence located on the campus of Charles E. Smith Life Communities, is inviting the community to join with its residents to participate in some exciting events. To spread the word about what makes us so special, we extended an open invitation this summer to seniors living locally to come in for a “cool” day of programming, complete with a health fair, lunch, and musical entertainment. Plans for more events continue this fall. Here's what's currently on the schedule:

Sunday, Sept. 22:  Farmer’s Market.  Come shop for fresh produce and more from local farms and vendors. If you like, stay for a snack and schmooze in our Sukkah, constructed for the Jewish festival of Sukkot.

Wednesday, Oct. 9:  Mah Jongg for Fun. For $5, you get a day full of games and a delicious three-course luncheon. We’ll be happy to match you with other players. All levels of experience welcome. Come and enjoy!

Remember This! - A Lecture Series

Remember This Graphic.2013Now in its second year, Remember This! covers today's most requested topics in Alzheimer’s/memory care. Top experts in the field discuss crucial subjects, leaving time for attendees' specific concerns to be addressed during an informative Q & A session. We serve a delicious informal supper before each session. In the past, about 80 guests have come to each integrative lecture, including social workers, case managers, geriatric nursing assistants, therapists and community caregivers. The series is supported by the George and Tess Hurwitz Lecture Fund.

In October, the first session will focus on the Allen Cognitive Level Test. Learn about this widely-used measurement tool which assesses patients with memory issues and identifies the best approaches for providing care and therapeutic programming tailored to individual needs. At Cohen-Rosen House, the Allen Cognitive Level Test is an integral part of care.
