The Gift List

The Gift List

A unique tradition benefits residents

When Susan Korsower and Ira Priesman married six years ago, they were combining two households. So their invited wedding guests were asked, in lieu of gifts, to donate to their favorite charities. Once settled into their new life together, the newlyweds began hosting an annual holiday party. Realizing that many of their friends would bring gifts, Susan and Ira asked guests to please share the holiday season with the residents at the Hebrew Home by bringing gift items. The invitation provided a suggested list of appropriate gifts for $10 or less.

Today, party guests are thrilled to continue this tradition, and as they enter Susan and Ira’s home, they quickly fill a laundry basket with new scarves, hats, gloves, toiletries, stationery items and playing cards for the Home’s residents.  Some include checks made out to the Hebrew Home, and even those who cannot attend the party make sure to drop off their gifts.

What a wonderful tradition! Thank you, Susan Korsower.
