The Rehabilitation Center at the Hebrew Home opens with 70 beds dedicated to short-stay care. Described as a “stepping stone to recovery,” the post-hospital care program is filled from its inception. While the Home began accepting short stay patients in a modest way in 1982, the Rakusin Rehabilitation Center offers more beds, more sophisticated services, and a state-of-the-art therapy suite. In 1999, Senator Eugene McCarthy becomes a patient and recovers here.
